
Muamba and Wieneke nominated for Most Outstanding Canadian and Most Outstanding Rookie in the CFL

Montreal - The Canadian Football League announced its finalists for the year-end Most Outstanding Player Awards on Thursday and, following their excellent seasons linebacker Hénoc Muamba and receiver Jake Wieneke have respectively been named the East Division Most Outstanding Canadian as well as Most Outstanding Rookie.
East Division Most Outstanding Canadian: Hénoc Muamba
In his second stint with the Alouettes, the Kinshasa, Congo native had another great season in the nest this season. The 30-year-old athlete finished second in the league with 93 defensive tackles, a number that earned him the seventh all-time spot in Alouettes' history. The team's defensive leader on and off the field also registered a sack, forced two fumbles, recovered one, while defending three passes.
East Division Most Outstanding Rookie: Jake Wieneke
Jake Wieneke took the CFL by storm in 2019 as he has been an important target for quarterback Vernon Adams Jr., especially in the red zone, where the American receiver has made seven touchdown receptions, which is good for fifth place in the CFL. The Maple Grove, MN native caught 39 passes for 555 yards, which places him fourth among Alouettes receivers. The 25-year-old had his best outing on September 21 in the Alouettes historic comeback against the Blue Bombers when he caught eight passes for 134 yards and a touchdown.
The nominees were voted by the Football Reporters of Canada and head coaches from across the league.The recipients will be announced at the 2019 Shaw CFL Awards will take place on Thursday, November 21 in Calgary at Scotiabank Saddledome. The evening is one of the highlights of the 2019 Grey Cup Festival.
