Mother Nature postpones Opening Day

Due to cold and snowy conditions, the Cedar Rapids Kernels will postpone their first game of the season, scheduled for noon on Wednesday against the Burlington Bees.

The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Thursday, April 12 starting at 5:30 pm with the gates opening at 4:30 pm.

RHP Tim Schoeninger is scheduled to start the first game for the Kernels with RHP Trevor Bell taking the hill for the nightcap.

Fans with tickets for April 11th can exchange them at the Kernels Ticket Office for any future 2007 regular season Kernels game, based on availability. However, fans must come to the ticket office - exchanges cannot be done over the phone.

The first 1,000 fans through the gates on Thursday will receive a free mini-bat from Collins Community Credit Union and Thursday will be our first 100.7 The Fox Buck-A-Cup Thursday where fans can get a 12 ounce draft beer or soda or a Slushie for just a buck and bottled soda and water are $2 all game long.

Fans will also receive a 2007 Kernels Magnet Schedule thanks to Mercy Community Physicians.

Tickets for all Kernel home games can be ordered on-line at www.kernels.com , or by calling the Kernels Ticket Office at (319) 896-7560 from 10 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday. Tickets may also be purchase at Veterans Memorial Stadium during those hours.
