Arkansas Travelers News Release
SPRINGDALE, ARKANSAS - The Los Angeles Angels promoted Travs reliever Bobby Mosebach to class-AAA Salt Lake following Friday evening's 7-4 win at Northwest Arkansas. Mosebach earned his second win with two perfect innings and had also saved two wins for the Travs during their previous series at Springfield. The 24-year old Mosebach leaves the Travelers with a 2-0 record and 0.34 ERA in 19 appearances plus 6 saves. Mosebach also vacates his spot in the Texas League All-Star Game and will be replaced on the north division club by teammate Bobby Cassevah. The Angels have reassigned right hander Fernando Rodriguez to take Mosebach's spot in the Travs bullpen.
Mosebach opened the season in the Travs bullpen but was promoted to SaltLake after three appearances. He pitched in 7 games for the Bees posting 1 win and a save with a 3.38 ERA, but was sent back to Arkansas in mid-May and shared closing duties with David Herndon. In June when Herndon was placed on the disabled list, Mosebach assumed the closer's role fulltime. In his first season as a reliever, the Angels 9th round draft choice in 2005 blossmed and was named a mid-season All-Star by league managers, broadcasters and beat writers. He threw 20.1 consecutive scoreless innings in the Texas League until allowing a run in his 15th outing.
Rodriguez, 25, will pitch out of the bullpen in his return to Arkansas where he made 55 appearances including 44 starts over the 2007-08 seasons. In 23 relief appearances at SaltLake, Rodriguez owned a 1-1 record and 7.53 ERA. The El Paso native also made his Major League debut on May 2 during the Angels 8-4 win in New York over the Yankees. He pitched 0.2 innings allowing 3 runs and a home run by Jorge Posada.
Rodriguez compiled a 15-15 record and 5.05 ERA with the Travs over the last 2 years and was the club's opening day starting pitcher in 2008.
Cassevah will join the North division's all-star game for the Texas League All-Star Game on July 1 at Dr Pepper Ballpark in Frisco. Cassevah is 1-3 over 28 relief appearances with a 2.18 ERA.
