
Moscot Promoted to Pensacola, Ellis Placed on the DL

Right-handed pitcher Jon Moscot is joining the Pensacola Blue Wahoos. After a rough start to the season, Moscot posted four consecutive quality starts with High-A Bakersfield, accented by his last start against Lake Elsinore in which he fired eight shutout innings. Overall, Moscot had a 2-14 record with Bakersfield and a 4.59 ERA in 22 starts. His 112 strikeouts in 115.2 innings are the most in the Reds organization
The second-year pro was drafted in the fourth round of the 2012 draft out of Pepperdine University. He pitched mostly for Rookie Billings last year, holding opponents to a .220 average while. posting a 0-2 record with a 2.63 ERA in 12 appearances (11 starts).
In a corresponding move, RHP Shaun Ellis has been placed on the disabled list retro to 7/29. Ellis holds a 3-2 record with a 3.75 ERA in 23 games for Pensacola, including nine starts. He most recently fired four scoreless innings against Mobile on Sunday.
