Jackson Generals News Release

JACKSON, TENN. (AUGUST 1, 2013) - After falling behind in the first, Jackson (18-19) kept its winning streak alive with five unanswered runs in the series finale, winning 5-2 over the Huntsville Stars (17-22). For the second straight night, the Generals had a base runner in every inning except one. Starter Trevor Miler recorded his first Double-A win through tossing six quality innings of work.

Every game in the series has featured at least one run from either team in the first inning and Jason Rogers added the exclamation point to begin the rubber match of the series. Rogers hit his fourth home run in the series, all two-run bombs, and now sits atop the league leaders with 18 on the season. Jackson was good for a response in the home half when Chris Taylor (1-5, 3 K, 2 SB, R) scored on a Ji-Man Choi (1-2, BB, RBI, 2B, R) RBI groundout. Choi extended his consecutive RBI streak that now sits at six games.

The Generals plated another run in the second to tie the game at 2-2 and then put up a crooked number in the third. Choi, John Hicks (1-3, RBI, R) and Joe Dunigan (2-3, HR, 2 R) strung three straight hits together, including Dunigan's first home run this season in Double-A. It was a three-run third and it would be all the run support Jackson would need.

They rode their 5-2 lead behind starting pitcher Trevor Miller (W, 1-1, 6.19), who made his third start of the season for the Generals. Miller went six innings and allowed two runs on five hits. The right-hander struck out four and walked two on 102 pitches. The bullpen was good yet again, as Kyle Hunter (1.29) pitched 1.2 innings with two strikeouts and no runs. Carson Smith (2.40) grabbed his 11th save, gettng four outs to achieve it.

The Generals left another eight runners on base tonight after stranding 12 last night. They were 2-for-15 with runners in scoring position. James Jones (1-1, 2 BB, SB) swiped his 26th base in the first and the Generals as a team stole four bases in the victory.

The Generals will hit the road and play the Mobile BayBears Friday starting at 7:05 p.m. (CT). James Gillheeney (4-5, 4.02) will start the series off against right-hander Archie Bradley (6-5, 2.28). The game can be heard on 96.5 ESPN Radio, TuneIn Radio App. and jacksongeneralsbaseball.com.
