Savannah Sand Gnats News Release
SAVANNAH, Ga. - Savannah corner infielders Steve Mortimer and Ryan Zimmerman were a two-man wrecking crew in the Gnats 8-2 victory over Charleston Thursday night at Historic Grayson Stadium. The pair each registered a single, double and triple in leading the offensive charge.
Three times on the night, Gnats first baseman Mortimer plated Zimmerman en route to a 4-for-4, 4 RBI performance. In addition, Mortimer chipped in with solid defense at first helping starter Collin Balester hold the Dogs to two runs over eight innings.
Savannah hits the road for a three-game set against Greenville before the All-Star break. Catcher Devin Ivany, outfielder Edgardo Baez and closer Brett Campbell will represent Savannah at the June 28 All-Star game in Augusta. Savannah returns home June 30 for a four-game series against the Hickory Crawdads. Tickets are available online or by calling the Gnats box office at 912-351-9150.
