Mortensen Collects 12th Victory As River Cats Top Cubs

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Sacramento starter Clayton Mortensen allowed one run over 7.0 innings as the River Cats topped the Iowa Cubs 4-2 on Wednesday night at Raley Field. Mortensen's only mistake was a solo home run to Jonathon Mota in the fifth inning, which tied the game 1-1. The River Cats broke through with three runs in the sixth inning, capped by an Adrian Cardenas two-run single. Mortensen (12-6, 3.98) finished with seven strikeouts, one walk and five hits allowed. With Fresno's loss to visiting Omaha, Sacramento is now 1.0-game back in the Pacific Coast League South Division.
