Evansville Otters News Release
(WASHINGTON, PENNSYLVANIA) - b0 Starting pitcher Bryce Morrow allowed just a single run over 7.0 innings as the Evansville Otters defeated the Washington Wild Things 6-1 on Monday night.
After a scoreless first inning from Morrow, Evansville rallied to score three runs in the top of the second inning. Outfielder Runey Davis returned from an injured heel to hit a leadoff triple and scored as fellow outfielder DeAngelo Mack hit a bouncing single to right field. Later in the inning, another outfielder, Matt Sheely, would hit a two-run home run to left field. It was his second home run of the season as Evansville led 3-0.
Trailing by three runs, Washington rallied back to score on a safety squeeze bunt in the bottom of the inning only to see the Otters rally again.
Ahead 3-1, catcher Brett Chamberlain added to the lead with an RBI single in the fourth and came through again with another run-producing single in the eighth.
Leading by five runs, relievers Patrick Crider and Nick Montgomery would each pitch a scoreless inning as the Otters prevailed in the 6-1 win.
The Evansville Otters are now 23-29 this season as the Washington Wild Things fall to 19-32.
Morrow (5-4) gave up just five hits in his 7.0 innings. Washington starter Justin Hall (2-5) takes the loss after yielding four runs in 7.0 innings.
