River City Rascals News Release

Loves Park, Ill. - River City took a 6-1 lead in the fifth on back-to-back solo homeruns from Jason Patton and Charlie Lisk but the RiverHawks scored five in the fifth, tied the game again in the seventh and took a one-run lead in the eighth to send River City to their 12th loss in 18 one-run games this season to fall to 27-25 overall.

The Rascals lead 3-0 after the second inning when they scored three on three hits and two Rockford errors. Curran Redal stretched the lead to 4-0 with an RBI single that scored Ben Hewett after a leadoff walk. The RiverHawks closed to 4-1 in the bottom of the frame before the homeruns in the fifth.

Rascal starter Doug Shields surrendered four hits to the first five hitters in the bottom of the fifth before reliever Jason Sullivan allowed a three-run game-tying homerun to Michael Hur.

After a double play groundout ended a Rascal threat in the sixth, River City loaded the bases with no outs in the seventh but scored just once to take a 7-6 lead on a wild pitch.

A one-out single followed a double in the seventh for Rockford to tie the game at seven. The Rascals stranded a leadoff walk in the eighth before a two-out walk issued by Alex Sunderland scored following a stolen base and single from Evan Button.

River City looks to even the series tomorrow night with first pitch set for 7:05. You can catch all the live action on Westplex News-Talk 1280 AM or online at www.westplexnewstalk.com.
