
Denny McLain to Visit RiverHawks Stadium

LOVES PARK, Ill. - Former Detroit Tigers pitcher and the last man to win 30 or more games in a single Major League season, Denny McLain will visit RiverHawks Stadium Tuesday, July 17 when the RiverHawks take on the River City Rascals at 7:05 p.m.
McLain, 68, played 10 years with four major league teams, most notably for the Detroit Tigers (1963-1970). Originally signed by the Chicago White Sox, McLain made his Major League debut with the Tigers, holding the White Sox to one earned run on seven hits. McLain holds a 131-91 career record on the mound with a 3.39 ERA in 280 Major League games.
McClain is a two-time AL Cy Young Award winner (1968, 1969), a three-time MLB All-Star (1966, 1968, 1969), and won the World Series and AL MVP with the Tigers in 1968. McLain is also the last pitcher to win 30 or more games in a Major League season.
McLain will be selling copies of his new book "31-6" and his older book "I Told You I Wasn't Perfect".
He will also sign autographs starting when the gates open at 6 p.m. and will throw out a ceremonial first pitch.
