
Morin Called Up to Dallas, Oleksiak Assigned to Texas

CEDAR PARK, Texas - The Texas Stars, American Hockey League affiliate of the NHL's Dallas Stars, announced a series of roster moves today as forward Travis Morin has been called up to the NHL, defenseman Jamie Oleksiak has been assigned to Texas, and forward Taylor Stefishen has been signed to a Professional Tryout Agreement.
Morin, 30, leads the Texas Stars and is tied for fourth overall in the AHL with 24 points (10 goals, 14 assists ) in 23 games this season. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound native of Brooklyn Park, Minn. has skated in seven career NHL contests, posting one assist and six shots. Originally selected by Washington in the ninth round (263rd overall) of the 2004 NHL Draft, Dallas signed Morin as a free agent on July 2, 2010.
Morin becomes the fifth Texas Stars player this season to be called up to the NHL.
Oleksiak (oh-LEHK-see-ahk), 21, has four points ( one goal, three assists ) in 21 games for Dallas this season. The 6-foot-7, 250-pound native of Toronto, Ont ario was selected by Dallas in the first round (14th overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft. Oleksiak was a member of the Texas Stars' 2014 Calder Cup Championship team, and has appeared in 128 AHL games for the team over the previous two seasons.
Stefishen (steh-FIH-shehn), 24, has tallied 18 points in 23 games this season for the ECHL's Elmira Jackals (seven goals, 11 assists). The fifth-round pick (136th overall) of the Nashville Predators in 2008 is currently in his rookie season after three years at the University of Calgary, where he racked up 77 points in 79 career games from 2011-2014. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound native of North Vancouver, British Columbia also skated for Ohio State University for two years and spent time in the WHL prior to attending the University of Calgary.
