San Antonio Rampage News Release

DES MOINES, IA (Dec. 11, 2014) - The San Antonio Rampage (14-8-2-0) fell to the Iowa Wild (7-15-1-1) 4-1 in front of 3,587 at the Wells Fargo Arena on Thursday night. The loss marks the second straight regulation loss for the Rampage, who haven't dropped back-to-back games in regulation since a four-game losing streak spanning from Oct. 29 to Nov. 7. It's also the team's first regulation loss to a West Division opponent, as San Antonio was 11-0-1-0 against the division entering Thursday's game.

After a scoreless first period, Brett Sutter got the opening goal for the Wild past Michael Houser, giving Iowa the first lead of the night just 24 seconds into the start of the second stanza. Ryan Martindale tied it up with a shorthanded breakaway goal a little over two minutes later, wrapping up the second-period scoring.

Michael Keranen gave the home team a 2-1 lead with a power-play goal at 5:42 of the final frame, slipping the puck between the legs of Houser. Sutter got his second of the night with a tip on Jonathon Blum's shot to give the Wild a two-goal lead, and Brady Brassart notched a shorthanded empty-net tally to ice the game for Iowa.

Houser finished with 16 saves on 19 shots. The Rampage outshot the Wild 34-20, the third time this season San Antonio has held an advantage over Iowa in the shots category.

KEY STAT

San Antonio tallied their fourth shorthanded goal of the season and their third in four games, all of which have come in the second period of play.

The loss ended a franchise-high seven-game assist streak for Drew Shore, and Mark Mancari ended an eight-game point streak.

LINEUP NOTES

There were a few shifts in the line combinations for San Antonio. While the line of Connor Brickley, Drew Shore and Mark Mancari remained in tact, Bobby Butler and Garrett Wilson played on the second line, centered by Ryan Martindale. Brett Olson skated on the third line with Rocco Grimaldi and Logan Shaw.

After being a healthy scratch for the last two games, Steven Hodges drew back into the Rampage's lineup skating on the fourth line.
