Oklahoma City Barons News Release

CEDAR PARK, Texas - Greg Rallo scored two goals and nine other players figured in the scoring for the Texas Stars who defeated the Oklahoma City Barons 5-1 Wednesday night at the Cedar Park Center, ending the Barons' winning streak at eight games and unbeaten-in-regulation streak at 10.

Rallo's first goal came at 15:29 of the first period on the Stars power play with Oklahoma City's Bogdan Yakimov serving 2:00 for high-sticking at 14:13. The Stars' Derek Meech sent a shot from just beyond the left circle that Barons goal tender Richard Bachman knocked away before Brendan Ranford attempted a backhand attempt and Rallo finally chipped the puck into the back of the OKC net.

Twenty-two seconds later, Texas added to its lead when Jesse Root took a centering pass from Taylor Peters in the low slot and fired a one-timer past Bachman.

William Wrenn extended the Stars' lead to 3-0 early in the second period after a faceoff win by Root and a pass by Scott Valentine from the right boards set up Wrenn's shot from the point that skidded past Bachman.

Rallo's second goal came at 6:17 of the second period when Meech sent a cross-ice pass to Rallo who fired a one-timer from the left circle that sailed past a sprawling Bachman. After Rallo's goal gave Texas a 4-0 lead, Laurent Brossoit replaced Bachman in the Oklahoma City net.

Oklahoma City scored its only goal at 18:12 of the second period when Jason Williams shuffled a centering pass to a streaking Ryan Hamilton in the Texas slot and Hamilton jammed the puck past Stars goalie Anders Lindback. With the assist, Williams extended his point streak to tie the AHL's season-high streak of 10 games.

Justin Dowling capped the game's scoring at the 1:33 mark of the third period when he took a pass from Brett Richie in the middle of the Barons' zone before firing a shot and putting back the rebound to make the score 5-1 in favor of Texas.

The Barons are back in action Friday, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. when they return home for the first of a two-game weekend series against the Grand Rapids Griffins at the Cox Convention Center.
