Lancaster Stormers News Release

For the second time in three nights, a Lancaster left-hander baffled the York Revolution.

Bryan Morgado threw 5 1/3 innings of one-hit baseball before five relievers were used to close out the night as the Barnstormers defeated York, 4-1, extended the Freedom Division lead back to three games.

Morgado (4-5) allowed a leadoff double to right by Brandon Boggs on his first pitch of the fourth innings. Otherwise, York managed five walks off the southpaw, including three to start innings. However, York was 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position against the South Florida native and also failed to produce against newcomer Mark Lamm, the first of the five relievers, who pinned Eric Patterson at second through two batters in the sixth.

The Barnstormers did not club Rommie Lewis (8-8), but they picked up some timely singles. In the first inning, Mike McDade grounded a single through the right side to plate Zach Collier for a 1-0 lead.

Lancaster's other three runs scored in the fifth. Lewis walked new outfielder Derrick Pyles and catcher Juan Apodaca to open the inning. Anderson Feliz looped a single into short center to score Pyles to extend the advantage to 2-0. Collier bunted the runners over. Lewis retired Yusuke Kajimoto on a bounder to the first base side of the hill. Kent Matthes got the other two runs home despite the best efforts of the York defense. The Lancaster DH grounded a ball up the middle. Second baseman Mikey Reynolds gloved the ball in shallow center and made a backhanded flip out of his glove to shortstop Wilson Valdez. Valdez fired back to first, slightly too late to cut down Matthes. Meanwhile, not only did Apodaca score, but Feliz steamed around behind him for the 4-0 lead.

York managed to score off Daniel Moskos, the fourth Lancaster pitcher, in the eighth. Jose Constanza flared a one-hop single into the hole at shortstop to start the inning, and Valdez walked. Moskos struck out Eric Patterson for the first out, but Boggs lined a single into center to score Constanza. With the tying run headed to the plate, the Barnstormers switched to Scott Gracey. He fanned both Bryan Pounds and Andres Perez to end the inning.

Scott Patterson pitched a perfect ninth that included his own dazzling stab of a sharp liner by Luis DeLaCruz to earn his second save.

The series concludes on Wednesday evening with Madison Boer (0-1) taking the hill for Lancaster against spot starter Ty'Relle Harris (1-0). Fans may tune into 1390-AM, WLAN; rumba1390.com or the I Heart Radio cell phone app, beginning at 6:15.

NOTES: Morgado has won four straight starts and is 4-2 with a 1.89 ERA as a starter...Pyles and Lamm were the 56th and 57th players used by the Barnstormers this season...York has picked up only three hits in the first and third games of the series while rapping out 18 in Game Two...Feliz has hit safely in six straight...Matthes has six RBI in the series and 13 in the last 12 games.
