NLL Calgary Roughnecks

More Roughnecks named to all star squad

February 10, 2004 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Calgary Roughnecks News Release

Four Calgary Roughnecks players are going to the National Lacrosse League's All Star game in Denver, February 22.

Captain Tracey Kelusky was named as a starter yesterday, and today he was joined on the West squad by forwards Kaleb Toth and Ted Dowling, and young defender Rob Kirkby.

Calgary's Head Coach Chris Hall will be assisting the Mammoth's Jamie Batley behind the bench.

Kelusky and Toth both played in the All Star game when it was last held in 2002.

At that time, however, they were on different sides as Kelusky was wearing the colours of the now defunct Montreal Express.

Toth, for his part, was making history as the first ever Roughneck to make the All Star team.

There was no All Star battle between the West and East divisions of the NLL in 2003.

"Obviously I'm delighted to have been selected to the starting six," said Kelusky, "but I'm also proud that I'll be travelling to Colorado with three of my team-mates."

Kelusky added: "We are having a breakout season and it's nice to know that the fans, media and NLL management recognize that."

The selection of Kirkby was significant for the captain

"Everyone knows Kaleb and Teddy are perennial stars," said Kelusky, "but Rob has been our best defender all year and last year too, but yet he receives next to no public recognition. It's nice to know that other people have finally noticed his considerable contribution."
