New York Boulders News Release
RAMAPO, New York - Pittsfield Colonials starter Pat Moran gave up just one earned run to help them win the rubber match with the Rockland Boulders Saturday night, 4-2, in Can-Am League action.
Moran gave up just three hits over 8 1/3 innings and struck out seven Boulder batters. The Boulders scored two runs off Moran, but only one was earned.
Rockland starter Casey Hodges made it through eight innings, but four runs in the first two innings were enough to give Hodges his third consecutive loss and his fifth overall.
Jerod Edmondson gave Pittsfield (25-21) the lead on the fourth pitch of the game with a leadoff home run. Quentin Davis and Danny Bomback followed with back-to-back singles. Johnny Welch then doubled off the left field wall to bring Davis home to score. Angel Molina then knocked Bomback in on a ground out to third to give the Colonials the early 3-0 lead.
Pittsfield added to its lead in the top of the second. Davis grounded out to Cristobal Santana at first with one away, allowing Scott Knazek to score from third and increase the Colonial lead to four.
The Boulders found their way onto the scoreboard in the bottom of the third. Back-to-back errors by the Colonials put runners on second and third for Rockland. Ryde Rodriguez then grounded out to second, bringing Joe Hage home to score the first Boulder run.
Ryan Mollica recorded the first Boulder hit of the game in the bottom of the fourth, plating Sean Smith from second to tighten up the score at 4-2.
That proved to be the final score as neither team scored for the final five innings of the game.
The Boulders (19-27) will welcome the New Jersey Jackals back to Provident Bank Park on Sunday to begin a three game series. First pitch is scheduled for 5:05 p.m.
Rockland's ace Bobby Blevins (4-3) will take the mound Saturday night. He will go up against the top pitcher in the league, New Jersey's Isaac Pavlik (8-0).
