
Moose Sign Curry to PTO; Moose Release Pope & Waugh

The Manitoba Moose today announced they have signed defenceman Sean Curry to a professional tryout contract. The team also announced it has released right winger Matt Pope and defenceman Geoff Waugh.
Curry, 28, played in 67 games last season with the Adirondack Phantoms where he scored 11 points (4g, 7a) and collected 73 penalty minutes. The Burnsville, MN native has now played in 525 career games in the AHL with Adirondack, Philadelphia, Providence, and Lowell. In that time, he's scored 108 career points (34g, 74a) and recorded 781 penalty minutes. He has also appeared in 40 career Calder Cup games where he has 17 points (2g, 15a) and 81 penalty minutes. Curry was originally drafted in the seventh round of the 2001 NHL entry draft, 211th overall.
Pope, 26, appeared in 40 games last season with the Moose where he scored five points (2g, 3a) and 23 penalty minutes. The Langley, BC native has now played in 48 career games with the Moose in two seasons. In 2008-09, he scored five points (2g, 3a) in eight games and four points in 12 Calder Cup playoff games as the Moose advanced to the Calder Cup Final. In 52 career AHL games with Manitoba and Binghamton, Pope has 16 points (7g, 9a) and 23 penalty minutes.
Waugh appeared in 29 games last year in his only season with the Moose where he collected an assist and 41 penalty minutes. The Winnipeg, MB native has now played in 150 AHL games in his four-year pro career with Manitoba, Portland, Binghamton, and Springfield. In that time, he's scored 10 points (7g, 3a) and 261 penalty minutes.
The Moose will open their 15th regular season on Friday, Oct. 8th when they travel to Peoria to face the Rivermen. They will open their home schedule on Friday,Oct. 15th when they take on their division rival, the Grand Rapids Griffins. Gametime that night is 7:30 p.m. On opening night fans will receive a Moose Fridge Magnet Schedule and everyone at the game will be entered into a draw for one of three Hardcore Hockey bar fridges. Fans are encouraged to arrive early for the 2010-11 Manitoba Moose player introductions.
