
Veteran Defenseman Troy Milam Signs with Admirals

NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk Admirals have signed defenseman Troy Milam (pronounced MIGH-luhm) to an American Hockey League Standard Player's Contract, Admirals General Manager Julien BriseBois announced today.
Milam, 6-0, 185 pounds, played in two preseason games for the Admirals, recording an assist, two penalty minutes and two shots. Milam spent last season playing for Assat Pori in Finland's SM-Liiga, recording four goals and nine points with a plus-9 rating and 34 penalty minutes in 33 games.
A native of Lake Orion, Michigan, Milam will add a veteran presence on the Norfolk blueline. He is entering his eighth season of professional hockey, having played 394 pro games between the AHL, ECHL and SM-Liiga. Milam has appeared in 187 career AHL games between the Manchester Monarchs, San Antonio Rampage, Chicago Wolves and Hershey Bears, recording 20 goals and 88 points with 138 penalty minutes.
Milam was undrafted out of Ferris State University. In 155 games with the Bulldogs, he recorded 21 goals and 79 points with 217 penalty minutes. He was captain of the Bulldogs as a senior in 2002-03.
The Admirals have 25 players on their roster with fourteen forwards, eight defensemen and three goaltenders. A complete roster is attached to this press release.
Norfolk's regular season opens on Saturday in Binghamton, New York, as the Admirals square off against the Senators at 7:05 p.m. The Admirals' regular season home opener will take place on Friday, October 15, as the Worcester Sharks invade Scope at 7:30 p.m.
