Harrisburg Senators News Release

On Saturday night the Akron Aeros pounded out 11 runs and 15 hits en route to an 11-5 win over the Senators. With the loss the Senators fell to 54-38 on the season while Akron improves to 49-45 with the win. Even with the loss, the Senators still have the best record in the Eastern League.

Akron plated three runs in the first, two more in the second, then a run in the third to score six early runs and put the Sens in a hole they could not recover from. Five different pitchers took the mound for the Sens and only Cory VanAllen emerged unscathed as he pitched the final third of an inning and it was scoreless.

Tyler Moore had three hits in the game including his 19th home run on the season while Derek Norris and Josh Johnson had two hits each. Bryce Harper and Adam Fox were both robbed of extra base hits in the sixth inning on tremendous catches in the outfield by Akron.

Erik Davis started for the Sens and lasted 3.2 innings and took the loss in dropping to 5-4. T.J. McFarland improved to 6-4 with the win.

The final game of the four-game series is Sunday evening at 6:00 p.m. with LH Oliver Perez on the mound for the Sens against RH Joe Gardner for the Akron Aeros. The game on Sunday can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website, and on your ipad or iphone beginning at 5:50 p.m.
