Mankato MoonDogs News Release
MANKATO, Minn.--The Mankato MoonDogs Baseball Club, a member of the Northwoods League, had a tough day at the park Tuesday night as they dropped the second match of the three game series with the Alexandria Beetles, 2-10, at The Frank.
Baseball is a game where anything can happen. One day everything could be perfect, and the next anything you could imagine can go wrong. The only way you can explain Tuesday's match up is that it just wasn't the MoonDogs' night.
It all started in the first inning when Ty Taylor (Oklahoma) took the mound looking to shut down the Beetles. Taylor gave up four runs on two Beetle doubles, a single, a MoonDog error, and a wild pitch strikeout that advanced runners.
Despite the hole the MoonDogs dug themselves into, Matt Marsh (College of Central Florida), looked stellar on the mound as he came in for relief in the eighth and finished out the game while striking out four batters, only giving up one hit.
Drew Stankiewicz (Arizona State) drove in the only two runs for The MoonDogs with a line drive double clearing the center fielders head in the fifth inning in attempt to spark the worn out 'Dogs. Stankiewicz went one-for-four on the night.
Good baseball teams have the ability to forget. Stats are a recording of the past, and none of that matters when you are in present time trying to make something happen. The MoonDogs will be ready to battle back and clear their mind to try and win the series v. Alexandria.
On Wednesday, the MoonDogs will be back at the Frank to take on the Alexandria Beetles for the last game of the series at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday is Mascot Olympics presented by Hot 96.7. Season and single game tickets can be purchased at the MoonDogs office located at 1221 Caledonia Street.
