Rochester Honkers News Release

(Rochester, MN) - The Rochester Honkers were swept by the Bucks for the second time this season and third time overall on Wednesday afternoon falling to Waterloo by a final score of 7-0.

Honkers starter Matt Kent (Texas A&M) deserved a much better fate in this one. Kent pitched 6.2 innings and surrendered just two runs and struck out seven, but was still handed his first loss of the year due in large part to a severe lack of offense (1-1).

The Honkers collected only three hits in the game, all singles, and stranded a total of seven base runners.

The Waterloo pitching staff was dominant with starter Micah Bryan (Charlotte) tossing 7.0 innings of two-hit shutout baseball to earn his first win of the season (1-1). The Waterloo bullpen held the Honkers to one hit over the final 2.0 innings to keep the victory in place.

The three Honkers batter to record hits in the contest were Reid Roper (Illinois), Jordan Parr (Illinois), and Cole Lankford (Texas A&M).

The Honkers were outscored 38-13 by the Bucks in the three-game set.

First baseman Chad Wallach (Cal State Fullerton) went 0 for 2 with two walks in his first game of the summer.

Rochester has now lost six of their last eight games after sweeping the thunder Bay Border Cats at the beginning of June.

The Honkers (5-10) are back at home tomorrow, June 14th, to begin a three-game series with the Duluth Huskies (9-5). First pitch is at 7:05 PM. Getting the start for the Honkers is Tim Zufall (Oral Roberts) in what will be his first pitching appearance of the 2012 season.
