Mississippi Braves News Release
PEARL, MS - The Mississippi Braves (25-32) were defeated by the Montgomery Biscuits 28-29) by a final score of 3-0 in game two of the five game series on Monday night at Trustmark Park. M-Braves starter, Touki Toussaint provided the M-Braves with a solid effort on the mound despite errors. In 6.0 innings pitched, Toussaint allowed four hits, one run which was unearned, issued two walks and struck out four.
Runs in Monday night's contest between the M-Braves and the Biscuits came at a premium as neither team manufactured a run until the top of the fifth inning. Montgomery took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fifth inning after Brandon Lowe singled on a fly ball to third base, allowing Nick Solak to score.
The Biscuits tacked on two more runs in the top of the eighth inning, extending their lead 3-0 courtesy of a two-run single from the bat of Brett Sullivan. Both Lowe and Dalton Kelly scored on the single from Sullivan.
Montgomery's 3-0 lead would prove to be enough to capture a Monday night victory against the M-Braves and take a 2-0 lead in the series.
Montgomery starting pitcher, Genesis Cabrera (5-3, 3.24) earned the win and Toussaint (2-6, 3.52) suffered the loss. Jordan Harrison was credited with a hold, his fourth of the season. Montgomery's Cody Hall captured the save.
Mississippi and Montgomery will go toe to toe for the third consecutive night when they meet at Trustmark Park on Tuesday, June 5 at 7:00 p.m. RHP Bryse Wilson (1-1, 5.55) is scheduled as the M-Braves Tuesday night starter. Wilson's counterpart on the mound will be Biscuits' RHP Sam McWilliams (0-2, 11.57).
