SEASIDE, California - Monterey Bay F.C. will face its first repeat opponent in club history when Cardinale Stadium opens its doors to Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC in Week 12 of the 2022 USL Championship Regular Season on Saturday, May 28. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. PT and can also be streamed live on ESPN+.

Records: Monterey Bay F.C. (3-7-0, 9 points); Switchbacks FC (8-1-0, 24 points)
Head-to-Head: Colorado Springs has the all-time advantage over Monterey Bay F.C. after defeating the Crisp and Kelp side 1-0 in Week 2 of the USL Championship Regular Season. This will be the second-ever match between the sides, and the first meeting between the Union and Switchbacks FC at Cardinale Stadium.
The previous match between the clubs resulted in a 1-0 defeat for the Union at Weidner Field in Colorado Springs on March 19. Near the end of a tightly contested first half, Switchbacks FC scored the opener in the 40th minute to take a one goal lead into the break. Then in the 65th minute, Monterey Bay F.C. were forced to 10 men when Mobi Fehr was dismissed from the match after being given his second yellow card of the evening. Despite numerous attempts to equalize down a man, the hosts held on for the victory.
Connections: Monterey Bay F.C. forward Christian Volesky spent the 2020 campaign with Colorado Springs and scored five goals in 1,166 minutes in 16 regular-season appearances for the Western Conference side. Switchbacks FC defender Matt Mahoney and Union goalkeeper Rafael Diaz spent the 2019-2020 campaigns as teammates. In addition, Mahoney spent the 2017 season alongside Monterey Bay F.C. forward Seku Conneh at Bethlehem Steel.
Notes: The Union will face its first repeat opponent in club history, as it prepares to face Colorado Springs this weekend after falling 1-0 to the Switchbacks FC side in Week 2. Meanwhile, Switchbacks FC remains undefeated away from home. Monterey Bay F.C. is 1-1-0 all-time at home, while Colorado Springs is 28-56-22 all-time on the road.
