CLEVELAND - The AHL's defending Calder Cup Champions, the Cleveland Monsters, proudly powered by Constellation, were defeated by the San Antonio Rampage on Friday at Quicken Loans Arena by a final score of 4-1. With the loss, the Monsters fell to 3-4-0-0 overall this season and with a .429 points percentage, currently sit alone in fourth place in the AHL's Central Division standings.

After a scoreless opening frame, the Rampage claimed a 1-0 lead at 17:46 of the second with an even-strength J.T. Compher score. The Monsters responded at 4:35 of the third when Justin Scott notched his first professional goal, a five-on-five finish set up by Alex Broadhurst and Cody Goloubef, to tie the game at one apiece.

An opportunistic even-strength Mike Sislo marker gave San Antonio a 2-1 lead at 14:19 of the third and the Rampage sealed their third straight win with a pair of final-minute empty-net goals, from Jim O'Brien at 19:22 and Julien Nantel at 19:53, to claim a 4-1 victory.

Brad Thiessen fell to 0-2-0 in net for Cleveland despite making 24 stops, while Spencer Martin stopped 28 pucks between the pipes for San Antonio. The Monsters were hampered on Friday by a 0/6 mark on the power-play, but supplied a sterling penalty kill effort, holding the Rampage off the scoreboard on seven San Antonio power-play chances.

Next up for the Monsters, it's a Sunday road clash vs. the Chicago Wolves with full coverage, live from Allstate Arena in Rosemont, IL, underway at 5:00 pm on 99X and the Monsters Hockey Network.
