Nick Tarnasky gave Hamilton a 2-0 lead when he found a loose puck in front of the Monsters net and drove it over the goal line at 5:06 of the second period.
The Monsters countered with a power play goal of their own, cutting the Hamilton lead to 2-1, when Bryan Lerg tipped a Matt Hunwick point shot past Bulldogs goalie Robert Mayer at 14:31 of the second period. Brett Clark also assisted on the goal in his Monsters debut.

Patrick Holland, Stefan Fournier, Dumont, and Louis Leblanc scored to give the Bulldogs a 6-1 lead before Markus Lauridsen scored in the final minute for the Monsters; his second goal of the season, to cut the deficit to 6-2. Andrew Agozzino assisted on Lauridsen's goal with 44 seconds left.
