
Monsters Blank Senators 4-0 in Front of 10,207 Fans at the Q

CLEVELAND - The AHL's Cleveland Monsters defeated the Belleville Senators in front of 10,207 fans at The Q on Friday by a final score of 4-0. With the win, the Monsters are now 29-25-6-1 overall this season and with 65 points, remain alone in sixth place in the AHL's North Division standings, but trail the Utica Comets and Belleville by just two points for the division's final playoff spot.
Cleveland's Mark Letestu staked the Monsters to a 1-0 lead at 51 seconds of the opening period courtesy of even-strength assists from Tommy Cross and Adam Clendening before Kole Sherwood made it 2-0 for the home team with an unassisted five-on-five marker at 5:27 of the first.
The middle period's lone goal came at 13:50 as Letestu connected for his second of the game, an even-strength finish made possibe by Dan DeSalvo's lone helper. Then in the third, Miles Koules established Clevleand's final margin of victory at 4-0 with an even-strength conversion at 6:54 that saw Sam Vigneault and Maxime Fortier collect assists on the play.
Cleveland goaltender Brad Thiessen improved to 6-4-1 this season by virtue of a 26-save shutout performance while Belleville's Marcus Hogberg fell to 14-6-5 in net this year following a 16-save performance.
