LAST WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS
vs. Worcester (11/23): The Manchester Monarchs edged the Worcester Sharks, 2-1, for their fourth consecutive victory at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Wednesday night. The Monarchs received goals from left wing Ray Kaunisto and center Marc-Andre Cliche. Right wing Tommy Wingels scored the lone goal for the Sharks. Monarchs netminder Martin Jones earned his sixth victory of the season making saves on 33-of-34 shots. Sharks goaltender Tyson Sexsmith took his fourth loss of the season with 23 saves on 25 shots. Manchester went 1-for-5 on the power play. The Sharks were 0-for-4 with the man advantage.
vs. Bridgeport (11/26): The Manchester Monarchs squeezed out a 2-1 shootout win against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at the Verizon Wireless Arena for their fifth consecutive victory on Saturday night. Right wing Jordan Nolan scored the lone goal in regulation for the Monarchs. Center Jeremy Colliton scored the goal for the Sound Tigers. Scoring in the shootout were right wing David Meckler and Marc-Andre Cliche. Right wing Sean Backman scored the lone goal for the Sound Tigers in the shootout. Monarchs netminder Jeff Zatkoff earned his fifth victory of the season stopping 27-of-28 shots in regulation and 4-of-5 shootout snipers. Sound Tigers netminder Anders Nilsson took his third loss of the season making 34 saves on 35 shots in regulation and stopped 3-of-5 shootout attempts. Manchester went 0-for-2 on the power play. Bridgeport was 0-for-3 with the man advantage.
vs. Bridgeport (11/27): The Manchester Monarchs rallied from a two-goal deficit to win 5-4 in overtime against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at Webster Bank Arena at Harbor Yard for their sixth consecutive victory on Sunday afternoon. The Monarchs received goals from defenseman David Kolomatis, left wing David Meckler and right wings Brandon Kozun and Linden Vey (two). Right wing Rhett Rakhshani, left wing Scott Howes, left wing Tim Wallace and defenseman Dylan Reese scored for the Sound Tigers. Monarchs netminder Martin Jones earned his seventh victory of the season stopping 30-of-34 shots. Sound Tigers goaltender Kevin Poulin took his sixth loss and second overtime loss of the season making 28 saves on 33 shots. Manchester went 0-for-3 on the power play. Bridgeport was 1-for-6 with the man advantage.
MONARCHS NEWS & NOTES
The Manchester Monarchs (12-9-0-1) are in second place in the Atlantic Division with 25 points. The St. John's IceCaps (12-4-4-0) sit in first place in the division with 28 points. The Portland Pirates (10-7-1-1) are in third place in the division with 22 points. The Providence Bruins (8-13-1-1) rank fourth in the division with 18 points. The Worcester Sharks (6-6-3-2) are in fifth place in the division with 17 points.
Manchester is on a six-game winning-streak and have a five-game winning-streak at the Verizon Wireless Arena. The Monarchs six-game winning streak is the longest winning streak since the 2009-10 season when the team posted an 8-0-0-0 record from March 24 to April 9, 2010.
Manchester went 8-2-0-1 in November and is 7-2-0-1 in their last 10 games.
The Monarchs last eight games have all been decided by one goal and have a 7-1-0-0 record in those games.
This season, the Monarchs are 8-3-0-1 in games that have been decided by one goal.
Manchester is 8-5-0-1 against Atlantic Division teams this season.
At the Verizon Wireless Arena this season, Manchester owns a 6-4-0-1 record overall including a record of 5-1-0-1 in November.
The Monarchs are undefeated in regulation, 5-0-0-1, in games which they have led after the first period and are 6-2-0-0 when tied after the second period.
Manchester's 458 penalty minutes lead the league for the most penalty minutes this season. The team is averaging 20.8 penalty minutes a game which ranks third most in the league.
With a rate of 85.6%, the Monarchs are tied for the fifth best penalty kill in the league this season.
The Monarchs have been outshot in 14 of their 22 games and own a 8-6-0-0 record in those games.
Manchester center Andrei Loktionov (3-11=14) leads the team in assists (11) and is tied with right wing Jordan Nolan (6-8=14) for the team lead in points with 14.
Loktionov was recalled by the Los Angeles Kings on Monday, November 14 and earned his second point of the season by assisting on center Mike Richards' third period goal in a 3-2 win over the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday, November 22.
In 26 career games with the Kings, Loktionov has nine points (4-5=9) and four penalty minutes. This season Loktionov has tallied two points (0-2=2) in six games played.
Nolan has tallied seven points (4-3=7) in his last five games including three points (1-2=3) in his last two games.
Nolan had a two-game goal-streak (three) and point-streak (3-1=4) snapped in a 2-1 victory over the Sharks on Wednesday, November 23.
Nolan leads the team and ranks fourth in the league overall with 84 penalty minutes.
Monarchs center Marc-Andre Cliche (8-5=13) leads the team with eight goals and with three game-winning goals this season.
Monarchs right wing Linden Vey (6-5=11) scored two third period goals and added an assist on the game-winning tally in a 5-4 overtime victory against the Sound Tigers on Sunday, November 27.
Vey's two third period tallies marked his first professional multiple goal game. It also marked Vey's first professional three-point game.
David Kolomatis (3-7=10) leads Monarchs defensemen in points (10) and assists (seven), and is tied with defenseman Jake Muzzin (3- 6=9) with three goals. Kolomatis' 10 points are tied with center Justin Azevedo (4-6=10) for fifth best on the team.
Manchester left wing Richard Clune (3-4=7) ranks fifth in the league with 81 penalty minutes this season.
Monarchs defenseman Thomas Hickey (0-4=4) leads the team in plus/minus with a plus-11.
Goaltender Martin Jones owns a 7-7-0 record, a 2.43 goals-against-average and a .924 save percentage on the season for the Monarchs. Jones has won his last three starts.
Monarchs netminder Jeff Zatkoff has registered a 2.31 goals-against-average, a .928 save percentage and a record of 5-2-1 on the season. Zatkoff has won four consecutive starts.

Stuffing For Stockings - The Monarchs and New Horizons will be collecting stuffing for families in need this Holiday season. The stuffing will be included in holiday baskets that New Horizons delivers to low income families. Donate your favorite stuffing when the Monarchs drop the puck against the Worcester Sharks at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Sunday, December 4 at 3:00 p.m.
Teddy Bear Toss/ Sing For Santa - Join the Monarchs as we celebrate the holiday season. Fans are encouraged to bring and throw a stuffed animal onto the ice after the Monarchs first goal on Sunday, December 11 at 3:00 p.m. when the Monarchs host the Portland Pirates. Fans in attendance to the game will have a chance to meet Santa, get their picture taken with him and hear the Sing For Santa concert.
