Grand Rapids Griffins News Release
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Detroit Red Wings on Monday recalled forward Fabian Brunnstrom from the Grand Rapids Griffins and reassigned forwards Andrej Nestrasil and Trevor Parkes and defenseman Gleason Fournier from the Griffins to the Toledo Walleye (ECHL). Additionally, Grand Rapids recalled forward Adam Estoclet from Toledo.
Brunnstrom, 26, has played four games with the Red Wings this season, recording one assist and two penalty minutes. The Jonstorp, Sweden, native also recorded points in his first three games with the Griffins before being held pointless on Sunday's 5-4 loss to Oklahoma City, totaling one goal and two assists in four contests.
Nestrasil, 20, skated in 11 games with Grand Rapids since being reassigned from Toledo on Oct. 19. A former third-round choice (75th overall) of Detroit in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, he registered three points (2-1 - 3) and two penalty minutes during his time with the Griffins.
A first-year pro from Fort Erie, Ontario, Parkes has tallied one assist in 14 contests with Grand Rapids this season. The 20-year-old right wing became the first Griffins rookie to be awarded a penalty shot since Darren Helm scored on Jan. 26, 2008 versus Chicago when he attempted one on Oct. 16 at Rochester.
Fournier, 20, returns to the Walleye after being reassigned to Grand Rapids on Saturday. The Rimouski, Quebec, native scored a goal on Nov. 18 versus San Antonio in his first AHL game and notched his first AHL assist on Sunday versus Oklahoma City. He has skated in three games with Grand Rapids this season and 12 with Toledo, where he has tallied eight points (1-7 - 8) in 12 games.
Estoclet, 22, rejoins the Griffins after being assigned to Toledo on Oct. 31. He is tied for second in the ECHL with a plus-12 rating while recording 13 points (5-8 - 13) in 12 games since his assignment. The Naperville, Illinois, native also skated in four games with the Griffins, recording two penalty minutes.
After completing a season-high five-game homestand on Monday, the Griffins will face off against the Toronto Marlies at Ricoh Coliseum on Tuesday before returning home for back-to-back home games against the Marlies on Friday and the Chicago Wolves on Saturday. All start times are 7 p.m. Tickets are available at griffinshockey.com.
