"The game this afternoon was a bit of a clunker, but in the big picture we accomplished what we set to do, we made the playoffs," said Monarchs Head Coach Mark Morris. "Some key players were out this afternoon and it altered the chemistry significantly. We'll gear up for the post-season against Springfield and see if we can rekindle the momentum we've enjoyed for the past few weeks."

The Bears regained a two-goal lead at 3-1 with a goal by left wing Jon DiSalvatore at 6:47 of the third period. Right wing Joey Crabb received a pass at the right wing half wall before he played it back to defenseman Julien Brouillette at the right point. Brouliette took a slap shot that DiSalvatore redirected for the eventual game-winning tally and his 17th goal of the season.

The Bears opened the scoring with a goal by defenseman Chay Genoway just 16 seconds into the first period. Left wing Nicolas Deschamp grabbed the puck from behind the net in the Monarchs zone. Deschamp chipped the puck along the boards to center Michael Latta in the left wing corner. Latta played the puck back to Genoway who came down from the left point to the left wing half wall. Genoway wristed a shot from along the boards that beat Monarchs goaltender Ty Rimmer under his armpit on the glove side for his fifth goal of the season.

Left wing Boyd Kane gave the Bears a 2-0 lead with a goal at 14:12 of the first period. Right wing Garrett Mitchell fed Kane who gained the Monarchs zone on the right wing. Kane skated into the right wing face-off circle before a Monarchs defenseman poked the puck to the right wing half wall. Kane regained control of the puck, circled around inside the right wing face-off circle and fired a wrist shot that beat Rimmer over the shoulder on the stick side for the goal. Defenseman Tomas Kundratek also tallied an assist on Kane's 15th goal of the season.

The Monarchs cut their deficit to 2-1 with a goal by left wing Tanner Pearson at 6:22 of the third period. Right wing Brian O'Neill took the puck off the end wall and passed the puck to center Andy Andreoff in front of the net. Bears netminder Philipp Grubuaer denied Andreoff's initial shot but Pearson was able to grab the loose puck and slide it into the back of the net for his 18th goal of the season.

DiSalvatore recorded his second goal of the game on the power play and gave the Bears a 4-1 lead at 14:59 of the final period. Deschamps grabbed the puck out of the right wing corner in the Monarchs zone and passed to defenseman Dmitry Orlov at the center point.
