Binghamton Senators News Release
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators traveled north to face off against their East Division adversaries the Syracuse Crunch for the final game of the 2012-13 regular season. The B-Sens would end the season on a high note, skating to a convincing 5-1 victory over the Crunch.
Corey Cowick opened the scoring in the first period after tipping one in on a pass from Derek Grant at 14:13.
Binghamton continued the offensive push into the middle frame as Grant scored a team-leading 19th goal of the season with the help of Chris Wideman just 1:56 into the second. The B-Sens stretched the lead to 3-0 after Cody Ceci rallied his first professional goal at the 4:28 mark courtesy of Stephane Da Costa and Mark Stone.
The Crunch finally struck at 6:47 in the third after Andrej Sustr gave Syracuse its first and lone goal of the game. Mark Barberio and Dan Sexton combined for the helpers on Sustr's tally.
The 9:00 mark of the third brought a goaltending change for Binghamton. Scott Greenham took over in goal for starting netminder Marc Cheverie. Shortly after the B-Sens regained their three-goal lead as Cole Schneider cashed in his 17th goal of the season on a pass from Cowick at 12:13. Buddy Robinson would put the exclamation point on the night after potting one with just 42.5 seconds remaining in regulation. Pat Cannone earned the assist on Robinson's goal, extending his point streak to six games.
In his second straight start, Cheverie earned his sixth win of the season, stopping 29 of 30 shots faced. Greenhame made his debut in goal for the B-Sens turning aside all seven Crunch shots he faced. Pat Nagle started between the pipes for Syracuse, stopping 30 of 35 Binghamton shots.
