Portland defeated Connecticut last night by a 5-1 score at the Cumberland County Civic Center for their regular season home finale. Phil Lane registered the first home hat trick for the Pirates since 2011, and the first of his career, while Troy Bodie and Andy Miele supplied the other two Pirates goals. Miele's goal, along with 2 assists, gave him 53 points on the year, one behind his mark from last year, while Chris Brown added an assist to extend his scoring streak to 3 games. Mike Lee was stellar in net, stopping 31 of the 32 shots he faced for his 9th victory of the season.

The Pirates have outscored the sound tigers 8-5 this week and lead the season series 5-0.
The Pirates need one point this afternoon to clinch the 5th spot in the Eastern Conference, setting up an Eastern Conference Quarterfinal matchup against the Binghamton Senators. If Portland loses, the Pirates would face either the Syracuse Crunch, who they have not seen this season, or the Springfield Falcons in the first round, depending on the outcome of today's Syracuse-Binghamton matchup.
