Manchester Monarchs News Release

Manchester, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the AHL affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, announced today that they have signed right wing Dane Jackson and left wing Eric Healey to 1- year contracts. Per club policy, terms of both agreements were not disclosed.

Jackson, 32, played in 76 games with the Monarchs last season and recorded 37 points (16-21=37) and 93 penalty minutes. The 2001-02 team captain also logged time in the playoffs, recording one goal (1-0=1) and nine penalty minutes in five games.

"I am really happy to be re-signing with the Monarchs," Jackson said. "Last season was one of the most enjoyable years in my career. I love the city of Manchester and the fan support is unbelievable. It was such a great all-around experience and I can't wait to get back."

Selected by the Vancouver Canucks in the 3rd round (#44 overall) of the 1988 NHL Entry Draft, the native of Castlegar, British Columbia, has played in 608 career American Hockey League games with the Hamilton Canucks (1992-94), the Syracuse Crunch (1994-95), the Lowell Lock Monsters (1998-99), the Rochester Americans (1995-98 and 1999-2001), and the Manchester Monarchs. His best season came in the 1996-97 campaign, registering 58 points (24-34=58) during the regular season and 11 points (7-4=11) during the playoffs. Jackson has also logged 45 games in the NHL with the Vancouver Canucks, the Buffalo Sabres, and the New York Islanders.

Healey, 27, was the Monarchs' leading scorer last season, posting 58 points (24-34=58) and 45 penalty minutes in 65 games played. He also netted four points (2-2=4) and eight penalty minutes in five playoff games.

"It's a great feeling to know that I'll be in a Monarchs sweater next season," said Healey. "Last year was wonderful. The fan support was tremendous and because of that, I am really looking forward to coming back to the best city in the American Hockey League."

The 6-foot, 200-pound, Hull, Massachusetts native was the only player signed out of the 2001-02 Monarchs training camp. Healey began the 2001-02 season on a 25-game PTO (Player Try Out). The R.P.I. (Rochester Poly Institute) alum was released on October 24, signed another 25-game PTO on November 2, and then resigned again on December 12 for the remainder of the season. Healey has also spent time during his career with the Saint John Flames (1998-99), the Orlando Solar Bears (IHL, 1998-99), the Springfield Falcons (AHL, 1999-2001), and the Jackson Bandits (ECHL, 2001-02).

Jackson and Healey will work with Monarchs Assistant Coach Bobby Jay and Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough at the Manchester Monarchs Hockey School. The summer camp, August 12-16, will be held at the Monarchs official practice facility, Tri-Town Ice Arena in Hooksett, N.H.

The Manchester Monarchs will open their second season in the American Hockey League on Friday, October 11 at the Verizon Wireless Arena against division rival, the Lowell Lock Monsters. The Monarchs will then travel to Tsongas Arena on Saturday, October 12 to face the Lock Monsters for the back end of the home and home series.
