Monarchs Re-Sign Kroll To Tryout

MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, have re-signed defenseman Johann Kroll to a professional tryout agreement, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced today.

Kroll, 25, made his Monarchs debut in their 4-1 win over the Hartford Wolf Pack on Sunday, January 17 and was held off the scoreboard before he was released from his tryout on Monday. He has played in 26 games with the ECHL's South Carolina Stingrays this season and recorded eight points (1-78) and 14 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound native of Plymouth, Minnesota also appeared in two games with the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins this season. Kroll has collected three assists in 35 AHL games with the Monarchs, Griffins, Hershey Bears, Syracuse Crunch and Rochester Americans in the past two seasons. He spent a majority of his rookie season, 2008-09, with the Stingrays where he registered 22 points (1-2122) and 31 penalty minutes.

A 2008 graduate of Ohio State University, Kroll finished his college career with 27 points (5-2227) and 177 penalty minutes in 153 games from 2004-08.

On Friday, January 22, the Monarchs will travel to Hartford to face-off in a rematch against the Wolf Pack at the XL Center in a 7:00 p.m. tilt. The Monarchs return to the Verizon Wireless Arena the following night to play the Norfolk Admirals at 7:00 p.m. The Monarchs Care Foundation is teaming up with City of Manchester Health Department to offer free H1N1 flu vaccines to all fans attending the Monarchs game on Saturday, January 23. The first 2,000 fans to Saturday's game will also receive a Monarchs hat, courtesy of Executive Health and Sports Center.
