Giuliano, Wilford, Smyth and Nolan will serve as alternates MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, have named defenseman Richard Seeley the team captain, left wing Jeff Giuliano and defenseman Marty Wilford as alternate captains at home games, and right wing Brad Smyth and defenseman Doug Nolan as alternate captains at road games for the 2005-06 season, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced today.
Seeley, 26, returns to the Monarchs after spending the 2004-05 season split between the Bridgeport Sound Tigers and the Norfolk Admirals. The 6-foot-2, 208-pound native of Powell River, British Columbia, served as the Monarchs captain for the 2003-04 season. Seeley spent three seasons with the Monarchs (2001-04), amassing 41 points (8-33=41) and 285 penalty minutes in 186 games.
Giuliano, 26, is entering his fourth season with the Monarchs organization (2002-present). The 5-foot-9, 205-pound native of Nashua, New Hampshire, collected 59 points (18-41=59) and 45 penalty minutes in 196 games with the Monarchs.
Wilford, 28, spent the last four years with the Admirals. The 6-foot-1, 212-pound native of Cobourg, Ontario, appeared in 238 games in Norfolk, recording 125 points (25-100=125) and 234 penalty minutes from 2002-05.
Smyth, 32, is entering his second season with the Monarchs (2004-present). The 6-foot, 200-pound native of Ottawa, Ontario, recorded 56 points (23-33=56) and 74 penalty minutes in 61 games with the Monarchs last season.
Nolan, 29, has spent parts of the last three seasons with the Monarchs (2002-present). The 6-foot-2, 210-pound native of Quincy, Massachusetts, appeared in 119 games from 2002-05 with the Monarchs, recording 11 points (2-9=11) and 203 penalty minutes.
The Monarchs open their regular season on Saturday night in Hartford against the Wolf Pack. The home opener is set for Saturday, October 15, at 7:35 pm against the Springfield Falcons at the Verizon Wireless Arena. Single seats in the Gold level and 1,000 seats in the Silver level remain for next Saturday's game against the Falcons.
