Manchester Monarchs News Release
MANCHESTER, NH â The Manchester Monarchs, the AHL affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, on Tuesday proudly announced that a promotion that gained national attention nearly one year ago is coming back to the Verizon Wireless Arena. Mullet Night II is scheduled for Friday, March 12 when the Monarchs host the Worcester IceCats at 7:35 p.m. "The Monarchs are excited to continue this great tradition of celebrating the great hockey institution that is the Mullet," said Monarchs president Jeff Eisenberg. "We're pleased to continue our association with the Mullet Hall of Fame. As part of Mullet Night II festivities, we will once again host their induction ceremony at the Verizon Wireless Arena."
"Short in the front and long in the back, the Mullet hairstyle over the years has come to symbolize the Rock N' Roll will never die mentality that lives in every one of us," said Dave Sholow, the executive director of the Mullet Hall of Fame. "Last year the people of New Hampshire showed the world what it means to go 10/90. We can't think of a better place to host this year's induction ceremony."
The selection for this year's Mullet Hall of Fame induction ceremony was not revealed at Tuesday's press conference. The selection will be revealed at a later date.
A capacity crowd of 9,916 witnessed last year's first-ever Mullet Night celebration, held in conjunction with the Monarchs' February 21 game against the Portland Pirates. The night included the induction of ESPN's Barry Melrose into the Mullet Hall of Fame. Derry's 12-year-old Devin Tebo was also awarded Grand Mullet of the Night honors after winning an intermission contest to see who in the crowd had the best Mullet.
Hockey fans across all of North America shared in the celebration, with CNN, CNN Headline News, ESPN's Sport Center and ESPN's NHL 2 Night representing just a sample of national media outlets that ran coverage of the event provided by Charlie Sherman of WMUR Channel 9.
Individual tickets to Mullet Night II are on sale now and can be purchased at the Verizon Wireless Arena box office. The box office is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and additional hours on game day.
