WHERE WE STAND With their loss last night, the Monarchs (23 pts.) enter today's game second in the North Division, one point behind the Adirondack Thunder. Despite dropping a spot in the division, the Monarchs maintain the third spot in the Eastern Conference.

TAKING OFF The Monarchs have not lost more than two games in a row this season, and the last time the team dropped two straight contests (Nov. 5-6), they responded with a six-game winning streak, including a five-game unbeaten mark for goaltender, Sam Brittain.

LIGHTING THE LAMP Despite the loss last night to the Jackals, the Monarchs have been outscoring their opponents 37-20 in their last eight games. The 37 goals are 45% of their season tally.

SCORE FIRST With their win last night, the Jackals are now 2-2-2-0 (.500) when scoring the first goal of the game, one of only three teams across the ECHL without a winning record when netting the opening goal. The Monarchs on the other hand have posted a 6-1-0-0 record (.857), good for 5th place in the league.

GET TO 100 A benchmark for good special teams play is when the power-play conversion rate and the penalty-killing success rate add up to 100. Entering today's game, the Monarchs special teams sit at combined percentage of 115.7, with the power play converting at a league best 25.8% and the penalty kill stopping 89.9% of chances, good for 3rd in the ECHL. The only team with a better overall special teams percentage is Wichita who has a combined percentage of 118.3, but have had 19 fewer power plays opportunities and 14 fewer penalty kills than the Monarchs.
