PLAYOFF PICTURE
The Monarchs (73 pts.) enter tonight's game third in the North Division, trailing the Reading Royals (76 pts.) and Brampton Beast (75 pts.). Manchester leads the Adirondack Thunder by one point for the final playoff spot in the North. If the playoffs were to start today, the Monarchs would face the Brampton Beast in the North Division Semifinals.
LAW OF AVERAGES
Manchester enters this weekend with 3.72 goals scored per game, good for fourth in the league. Atlanta comes in allowing 3.90 goals against per game, ranking second-to-last in the league. With 10 goals in their past two games, the Monarchs offense continues to tick at a high rate, however they have allowed 19 goals in their past three games, and are now ranked 20th in the league in goals against, allowing 3.59 per game.
ONE-GOAL GAMES
In one-goal games this season, the Gladiators are 13-5-6-2, but when games are decided by two or more goals, their record plummets to 10-23-0-0. The Monarchs have a league-low three regulation losses in one-goal games. Manchester's record is 12-3-7-4 when the game is decided by one goal and they are 18-16-0-0 in all other games.
SOMETHING'S GOT TO GIVE
The Monarchs are currently on a four-game losing streak, the longest active streak in the league, including losing their last three games at home. They have been outscored, 20-8, in those three home games, with their goaltenders combining for a .813 save percentage and a 6.66 goals against average. The Gladiators have lost three-straight road games, dating back to a 3-2 loss against the Orlando Solar Bears on Feb. 26. In those three road losses, Atlanta has been outscored, 14-4, including being blanked by the Florida Everblades.
LET THERE BE SHOTS
Atlanta has allowed 35.56 shots per game, the third most in the league, with only the Wichita Thunder (35.71) and the Indy Fuel (37.12) allowing more pucks on net. Gladiators goaltender, Matt Ginn, is second in the league in saves this season with 1,145 stops, behind only Jake Hildebrand of the Fuel (1,226). The Monarchs have allowed 32.16 shots per game and rank 15th in the league.
