MALLARDS NOTES
Last Game
Kyle Bushee scored 20 seconds into overtime to give the Kalamazoo Wings a 4-3 victory over the host Mallards Wednesday night.
Central
The third-place Mallards- who earned one point for Wednesday night's sudden death setback- are two points ahead of the fourth-place Wings in the Central Division standings. The Mallards have two games in hand on Kalamazoo.
Magic Number
The Mallards' magic number for clinching a playoff spot is nine. Any combination of standings points earned by the Mallards or points the fifth-place club in the Central Division- the Tulsa Oilers- fails to collect totaling nine will result in the Mallards locking up a postseason berth. The top four finishers in each division qualify for the Kelly Cup playoffs.
Upswing
The Mallards have suffered just one regulation loss in their last five games (2-1-2).
Axtell
The Mallards have gone 14-7-2 in 23 games since Phil Axtell took over as head coach on January 20.
Stretch Run
The Mallards have seven home games and five away games remaining.
Double Dip
Tonight's game is the first of two in two nights between the Mallards and Mavericks at the iWireless Center.
Busy
Tonight's game is the second of four in five days for the Mallards and the first of three in 48 hours. After completing their two-game set with the Mavs, the Mallards will hit the road to face the Indy Fuel Sunday. This marks the final time this season the Mallards will play three games in as many days.
Overtime
Last night's loss dropped the Mallards to 3-2 in games decided in overtime.
Wing-Dinged
The Mallards have suffered overtime losses in each of their last two games against Kalamazoo. Last night's setback came on the heels of 3-2 sudden death defeat at the hands of Wings on March 1.

Motte, who has endured just one regulation defeat in his last nine games (6-1-2), ranks third in the ECHL in save percentage (.918) and fifth in goals against average (2.59).
