WHERE WE STAND The Monarchs (36 pts.) enter tonight's game atop the Eastern Conference, one point ahead of the Orlando Solar Bears and Florida Everblades. Manchester also holds a three-point advantage over the Adirondack Thunder, who are in action tonight against the Reading Royals, for the top spot in the North Division.

HITTING THE ROAD

The Monarchs have played the fewest games in the ECHL away from home to this point in the season, and begin a three-game road trip tonight in Wheeling. The Monarchs have made the most of their travels however, and have posted a 5-2-1 record when away from SNHU Arena.

STREAKING

The Monarchs offense has been on fire recently, and after scoring 30 goals in six December games, it's no surprise a few Monarchs have been all over the score sheet. Entering tonight, Daniel Doremus has the hottest hand on the team and brings a six-game point streak into Wheeling (2g, 7a). Matt Leitner isn't far behind, as the second-year forward has scored in five consecutive games (2g, 5a).

NOTHING BUT CONSISTENT

The Monarchs boast five players who are averaging at least one point per game on the active roster in Daniel Ciampini, Leitner, Rihards Bukarts, Jordan LaVallee-Smotherman and Ashton Rome, with the two most consistent skaters being LaVallee-Smotherman and Leitner. In eight games, LaVallee-Smotherman (6g, 2a) has netted goals in six of them, while Leitner (3g, 13a) has scored at least one point in 13-of-15 games.

FIRST-YEAR FLARE

Tonight's North Division showdown will feature two of the highest scoring young guns in the ECHL in Quentin Shore (MCH) and Kevin Schulze (WHL). At the start of the day, Schulze ranks 4th among rookie skaters with 21 points, with Shore hot on his heels, sitting in 5th with 20 points.

SHORTHANDED?

Manchester brings the league's best penalty-killing unit to WesBanco Arena tonight, as the Monarchs are killing 91.0% of their shorthanded chances, killing 29-of-30 since Nov. 29, including their last 19 opportunities. The Nailers haven't been as efficient, as they rank dead last in the ECHL at 75.5%.

THE CARR'S NOT A LEMON

The Monarchs will see a familiar face in Wheeling, as former Monarchs netminder, Doug Carr, will most likely be patrolling the blue paint for the Nailers. Carr has been the workhorse in Wheeling this season, and leads the team in games played (16), minutes (918), wins (8) and saves (457).
