NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. - John Parker scored twice and forwards Rob Flick and Alex Gacek each had a goal and two assists as the South Carolina Stingrays (13-10-1-1) defeated the Greenville Swamp Rabbits (14-10-2-0) 6-3 Tuesday night at the North Charleston Coliseum.

Other impact performers included forward Patrick Gaul who had a goal and an assist and goaltender Parker Milner, who made 18 saves to earn his 10th win of the season.

Parker struck first for South Carolina, deflecting in a shot from the point by defenseman Danny Federico off a face-off win in the Greenville end to make it 1-0. Defenseman Steve Weinstein picked up the second assist on the goal, which came at 6:08 of the opening period.

The Stingrays made it 2-0 when Patrick Gaul put a loose rebound into the back of the net at 16:17 of the first for his fifth tally of the year. Flick drove to the net with a power move to create the opportunity, while Gacek earned the second helper on the goal. Despite just six shots on net in the period, South Carolina headed to the first intermission ahead by the two goals.

Greenville got back in the game while on the power play at 4:42 of the middle frame when forward Paul Zannette used a backhand in the slot to put the puck by Milner to make it 2-1.

But the Stingrays responded less than five minutes later at 9:33 with a marker by Dylan Margonari to get back ahead by two at 3-1. The rookie's sixth goal of the year came off a perfect pass by Flick and the forward put the biscuit up high over Greenville goalie Mackenzie Skapski. Once again, it was Gacek who had the second assist on the goal, which was Margonari's fifth strike against the Swamp Rabbits this season.

South Carolina took control of the game at the outset of the third period, scoring twice in the opening minutes to jump out to a 5-1 lead. First, it was Parker who got his second of the game off a great cross-ice feed by defenseman Max Nicastro. The Green Brook, N.J. native controlled the pass and put it low, underneath Skapski and into the cage. Gaul picked up the second assist on the play, which gave Nicastro a five-game point streak.

Gacek then scored with a beautiful wrist shot that went bar down from the inside of the left circle at 2:27 for his eighth goal of the season. Rookie forward Steven McParland picked up the lone assist on the goal, his 14th

helper of the year.

Although the Swamp Rabbits got tallies from defensemen Spiro Goulakos and Matt Prapavessis to get themselves closer at 5-3, Flick sealed the victory for South Carolina with his team-leading 10th goal of the campaign that came unassisted at 17:18 of the third.

The Stingrays finished 0-for-4 on the man-advantage during the game, while the Swamp Rabbits were 1-for-2 on the power play. Skapski took the loss for Greenville, making 22 saves in the contest. Despite being outshot in each of the first two periods, South Carolina had a 15-4 advantage in shots on goal during the third period and recorded 28 chances on net in the game to Greenville's 21.

The Stingrays are back at the North Charleston Coliseum Friday to face the Norfolk Admirals at 7:05 p.m.
