MANCHESTER, N.H. (Mar. 12, 2011) - The Monarchs erupted for four goals in a 7:28 span of the second period and Jeff Zatkoff stopped all 26 shots he faced as Manchester beat the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 7-0 at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester on Saturday night. With the win, Manchester improves to 39-21-2-6. The Sound Tigers drop to 21-36-3-5.

Manchester jumped ahead with a power-play goal with just under eight minutes left in the first period. The Monarchs power-play unit cycled the puck to the top of the left faceoff circle where Justin Azevedo fired a shot through a screen past Joel Martin to give Manchester 1-0.

The score remained 1-0 until the second half of the second period when the Monarchs would blow the game wide open. Jordan Hill scored his first goal of the season from the slot at 11:47, and following a Brett Motherwell tripping penalty 15 seconds later, Jake Muzzin's one-timer following the ensuing faceoff beat Martin glove-side to give Manchester a 3-0 lead. The Sound Tigers got their own power-play opportunity with just under three minutes remaining in the period, but it was the Monarchs who took advantage of the Sound Tigers man-advantage. Rhett Rakhshani took down Oscar Moller on a shorthanded breakaway and the Manchester forward was awarded a penalty shot. Moller fired past Martin's blocker to make it 4-0, and just 23 seconds later John Zeiler converted on a shorthanded 2-on-1 to give the Monarchs a commanding 5-0 lead.

Manchester added two goals late in the third when Justin Johnson scored from the right circle on the power play at 13:55 and John Zeiler scored his second of the game on a breakaway with 2:47 remaining in the game to complete the scoring.

Zatkoff made 26 saves to earn the shutout for Manchester. Joel Martin stopped 24 shots in the loss.

The Sound Tigers finish their six-game road trip tomorrow afternoon when they travel back to Providence to face the Bruins at 4:05 p.m.
