Abbotsford Heat News Release
Abbotsford, B.C. - The solid play of Aldergrove, B.C. native Brad Thiessen would help lead his visiting Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins to a 4-0 victory over the Abbotsford Heat in AHL action Friday night at the Abbotsford Sports and Entertainment Centre.
The tenacious fore-check of the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins coupled with a tough turnover would help the visiting squad get out to an early lead. The Penguins Geoff Walker and Zach Still would tally first period goals for Wilkes-Barre Scranton giving the Penguins a 2-0 lead over the Heat after the first twenty minutes.
Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins forwards Bryan Lerg and Brett Sterling would provide the second period scoring for the visitors, increasing their lead to 4-0 over the Abbotsford Heat after two periods of play. Back up Heat goaltender J.P. Lamoureux would fill in for Leland Irving in the third period between the pipes with the result remaining the same 4-0.
The Abbotsford Heat will look for some redemption tomorrow night, Saturday March 12th as they face off against the same Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins in the second game of their weekend doubleheader at the AESC. Catch all the action on Country 107.1 with Dave Sheldon getting the Diamond Bar Equipment pre-game started at 6:30pm... Puck drops at 7:00pm.
