A San Jose fielding error in the twelth inning was the difference in Friday's extra inning contest between the Giants and Nuts at John Thurman Field in Modesto. Hector Gomez scored Modesto's game winning sixth run with two outs in the final inning to win the game for the home team to move Modesto's record to 20-14 on the season. Nuts reliver Sean Jarrett (2-0) pitched a scoreless twelfth for the win; he struck out two and gave up just one hit. The 6-5 Modesto win lasted 12 innings, took more than four hours to finish and was played in front of a sell out crowd of 4,243.
Charlie Blackmon led the Nuts by going 4-for-6 in the win with a run scored and one batted in. Modesto's bullpen was led by Edgmer Escalona's three strike out 1.2 inning performance. Ryan Speier allowed one hit, issued an intentional walk and struck out one in his inning of work, while Craig Baker struck out two and allowed two hits in two innings.
