Utah Grizzlies News Release
West Valley City, Utah - The ECHL announced today that Utah's Mitch Fadden has been named the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for Nov. 28-Dec. 4.
The 23-year-old center scored two goals and added five assists for seven points as Utah went 2-0-0-1 in three games against Mountain Division rival Colorado last week. The Grizzlies at 13-6-0-1 extended their unbeaten streak to four games in the process.
Fadden opened the week with two points (1g-1a) in a 3-2 win against the Eagles on Friday. On Saturday, he had three assists in a 5-4 shootout loss at Colorado, and ended the week with another one-goal, one-assist performance in the Grizzlies 5-4 shootout win Sunday as they competed with just 13 skaters due to injuries.
A native of Victoria, British Columbia, Fadden leads the Grizzlies this season with 25 points (8g-17a) in 18 games. His 17 assists and eight power-play assists are tied for second in the league while his 25 points are tied for third. Fadden also has nine multiple-point games out of 18 this year.
Selected in the fourth round (107th overall) by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, Fadden has 76 points (23g-53a) in 55 career ECHL games with Florida and Utah. He also has 19 points (7g-12a) in 53 career AHL games with Norfolk.
On behalf of Mitch Fadden, a case of pucks will be donated to a Utah youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 25,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
Utah now heads to Alaska for games Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Face-off all three nights is scheduled for 9:15 p.m.
The Grizzlies return home Wednesday, December 14 and Friday, December 16 for 7:05 p.m. face-offs.
