Missoula Uses Two Big Innings to Beat Owlz
July 20, 2014 - Pioneer League (PL)
Northern Colorado Owlz News Release
Missoula used a four-run bottom of the fifth inning to beat the Owlz on Saturday night in game one of a four-game series with the Osprey.
The Owlz got behind early when Missoula jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the first inning helped by a two-run home run by Trevor Mitsui.
The Owlz didn't take long to answer back, however. In the second inning with two outs Natanael Delgado doubled to right field and Wade Wass was able to score Delgado on a ground ball to left field.
Then in the third inning the Owlz would add three more runs to tie the game. Bo Way would score on an error, Michael Strentz would score on a wild pitch, and then Houchins would score off a line drive to center from Delgado.
Then in the fifth, the Owlz were very close to getting out of the inning with only a one-run deficit, but a two-out rally led the Osprey to the four-run inning.
The Owlz had a chance to tie the game again in the ninth inning after they were able to load the bases with one out but both Ryan Seiz and Delgado struck out to end the game.
Way was 3-for-5 on the night while both Delgado and Caleb Adams recorded two hits each.
The Owlz will play game two of the four game series Sunday at 5:05. That game can be heard live at audio.oremowlz.com.
