The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs scored three power play goals to defeat the Mississippi RiverKings tonight 3-1 at CenturyTel Center.

The RiverKings (18-11-1) lost their season-high fifth straight, all on the road. The Mudbugs (20-7-3) moved into first place in the Northeast Division.

The Mudbugs got on the board first with 1:42 remaining in the first period. Daniel Pegoraro's seventh goal of the year on the power play gave them a 1-0 lead. Late in the second period, the Mudbugs' power play connected twice. Elias Godoy netted his eighth of the season while on a two-man advantage with 2:52 remaining in the second. Then with 2:06 left in the period, Chris Brassard knocked home his 12th goal of the year on a five-on-four advantage.

In the third period, Chad Woollard scored for the first time since returning from injury. His 15th of the season made it a 3-1 game with 10:18 remaining in regulation.

The RiverKings played tonight without Aaron Davis, who left last night's game in Austin against the Ice Bats in the second period with an injury.

John DeCaro made 41 saves for the Mudbugs, who went three for 10 on the power play. Sebastien Centomo stopped 27 shots for the RiverKings, who did not score on any of their 11 power play opportunities.

The RiverKings play their sixth consecutive road game on Tuesday in Wichita against the Thunder at 7:05 p.m. The pre-game show begins at 6:55 p.m. on Sports 56 WHBQ.
