Rayz fall to Ice Bats 4-2

In the first road game of 2008 on Saturday, the Corpus Christi Rayz fell behind early and lost to the Austin Ice Bats 4-2 at the Chaparral Ice Center. The loss was the second straight for the Rayz after a season-high, four-game winning streak. It was also the first ever regular season loss by the Rayz at the Chaparral, snapping a seven game streak. Corpus Christi remained in second place in the Southeast Division, but fell to 12-16-3 on the season. The Rayz now have points in five of their last seven games and will conclude the weekend at home on Sunday for Caller-Times Family Day against Rio Grande Valley at 3:05pm. Brent Howarth and Nick Lindberg scored for Corpus Christi to tie the score early in the second after the Bats took an early 2-0 lead. However, Darryl McArthur's goal at 2:37 of the second period stood as the game winner, after Corpus Christi couldn't find the equalizer in the third. The Bats added a late empty net goal to cap the scoring. Austin out shot Corpus Christi 48-29. The Rayz were 0-7 on the power play and the Ice Bats went 0-9.
