San Antonio Missions News Release
NORTH LITTLE ROCK--The Missions losing streak reached four as a ninth inning dropped fly ball sunk them in the series finale in front of 5,031 at Dickey Stephens Park.
With one out in the ninth and a runner at second, Drew Maggi hit a fly ball toward the right field line. Tyson Gillies raced in and dropped the ball, allowing Jared Mitchell to come home with the winning run.
San Antonio was shut out for the fourth time in six games and the sixth time in the last 14 contests to fall into last place in the South Division.
The Missions managed only three hits. Trea Turner's fourth inning triple extended his hitting streak to a career-high 14 games. He also matched teammate Travis Jankowski for the longest on-base streak in the league this year at 27 games.
Casey Kelly made his first start since last year and was very sharp over four scoreless innings. Kelly allowed only two hits and permitted only one hard hit ball.
The loss was the club's minor league-leading 19th decided by one or two runs. They've lost their last six one-run decisions, including all three in this series.
NOTES: Jankowski (hand) is expected to play tonight after missing the the last three games....The Missions have scored only 36 runs in the last 16 games since May 11, which is the third lowest total in minor league baseball...San Antonio is currently on pace to score its fewest runs since the 1975 season.
