San Antonio Missions News Release

The San Antonio Missions were handed their second straight loss Monday night, a 2-1 defeat by the hands of the Midland RockHounds.

San Antonio starter Simon Castro and Midland starter Gary Daley engaged in a pitcher's duel. Castro threw six shutout innings and surrendered seven hits while striking out five while his counterpart Daley held the Missions to just three hits and a run over seven innings.

The RockHounds touched the Missions bullpen for a run in the seventh and one more in the eight to take a 2-1 lead. San Antonio's bats were silenced the rest of the way as Midland earned a split of the four-game series.

One game after leaving a season-high 17 runners on base, the Missions left eight more stranded tonight and scored a total of nine runs in the series.

San Antonio has lost consecutive home games for just the second time all season and they have failed to hit a home run in their last four games, their longest such drought of the season.

Tomorrow will be a league-wide off-day followed by the 75th Texas League All-Star Game on Wednesday.

Following the All-Star break, San Antonio will hit the road for three at Northwest Arkansas and three at Tulsa before returning home July 7.
