San Antonio Missions News Release


San Antonio - The San Antonio Missions snapped their season-long four-game home losing streak with an impressive 10-2 victory over NW Arkansas in the third and final game of their series tonight at Wolff Stadium. San Antonio now improves in the second half to 10-5 and 59-26 overall.

The Missions offense was ignited when center fielder Blake Tekotte (3-4) led off the first inning with a solo home run to spark the Missions to a 1-0 lead. NW Arkansas would later take the lead in the third inning with a two-run home run by Jamie Romack, but it would be short lived as the Missions answered back immediately.

After an intentional walk to Jaff Decker to load the bases in the San Antonio half of the inning, third baseman Jedd Gyrko sent a 1-2 pitch from NW Arkansas starter Zach Miner over the wall in left for San Antonio's 10th grand slam of the season.

The Missions would add more runs in the fourth, one in the fifth, and two more in the seventh thanks to a home run from shortstop Andy Parrino.

Casey Kelly (8-3) earned his eighth victory of the season as he pitched seven innings, allowed five hits, two runs, two walks, and three strike outs.

The Missions will continue there seven game home stand tomorrow night at 6:05 hosting the Tulsa Drillers for a three game series. The first 500 kids will receive a color photo of Henry the Puffy Taco courtesy of Kellogg's.
